My goals for next year

December 31st, 2005 · 3 Comments

Travis Ennis is Preparing for the new year.  I gave up resolutions a long time ago but some goals are certainly called for.

Here are some of my goals for 2006 (in no particular order):

Graduate (May)
Attend my daughter’s college graduation (May)
Start on the CAS degree (out of my hands for now—application is in)
Submit an article or conference presentation proposal
Learn to inline skate (anyone local want to teach me this spring?)
Start exercising again
Stop the "bad" voice in my head
Finish my cat & class education bibliography
Learn some basic XML

Find some hope

Here’s to a great 2006 for everyone!

You are much better at this than I am. I thought, ’start exercising again,’ is one I could definitely use. And, this one, ‘find some hope,’ is truly worth remembering.

Your goal to learn some basic XML is also a good one. Over the last year, I’ve been learning XML myself and it’s been one of the most eye-opening technologies I’ve learned since HTML. Not just XML, but XSLT and XSL-FO as well, are amazing tools to have under one’s belt. If you ever need help, I may be no expert, but I’d be happy to assist.

    Have a wonderful New Year!

Hey Travis, thanks for the comment! But seriously man, I ripped you off, so how can I be better at it than you? And if you insist, then it’s because I have more experience (older, that is).

The exercise is a stretch. I’ve failed at that one on and off for years, and now that I’m not supposed to run anymore….

As for the hope. That one’s easy (as a goal, not as an acquisition!) as if I don’t then the “bad” voice will finally win. It’s been talking to me for almost 7 years now and I can’t take it anymore. Without some real hope for my society and my role in it I am lost.

Yes, I maybe should’ve said XML technologies because it is what I meant. Assuming I do the cat & class education bibliography, I am hoping to do the final project in XML and use XSLT/XSL-FO to produce it in various formats (PDF, HTML, Word,…) as requested by the user. It is all part of an integrated learning project, if you will. Thanks for the offer of assistance too!

Best of everything in 2006 Travis!

    New Years Eve

As I said, I went to Danville for New Years Eva. Had a great time. Met lots of interesting people. Got lots of hugs. Possibly found a little hope amongst the terror. (On that note I’ll be quiet for now as a boy should be discreet once in a while.) I ac…
