…although I highly doubt that The Mothers and Dads Association thinks so.
I was peeking at my blog stats just now and found an inbound Google search for: mothers weekend, uiuc. The 1st 5 hits are for the above Association here at UIUC. Then there’s a job posting at the Chronicle for a Program Manager (Parents Programs) here at UIUC. [Wow! They really do need a Program Manager, their website is way out of date.] Number 7 is a link to a blog that goes to the main page, but not the post.
Number 8, square on the 1st page of results, is my post from last year, "Another missed opportunity, or not," about my thankfully very short experience of Moms Weekend last year.
Checking the date for the upcoming Annual GSLIS Storytelling Festival, which is next Sat., 8 Apr 06, I discovered that Moms Weekend is also next weekend.
I was planning on going to the Storytelling Festival this year, but oh man…. We are so close to the hell hole that is Kam’s; I don’t know.
But then maybe, just maybe, I could meet a self-respecting mom at the Storytelling Festival. You know, one without a crack pipe in her purse, or one that won’t be throwing up down on Green St. later. Hmmm.
Flash Update: My buddy from St. Louis, Dave, just called and he is getting us tickets to see Dar Williams at the Sheldon concert Hall on Friday night. It is supposed to be a wonderful venue. I cannot wait! This will be my 1st time seeing Dar. Finally; I am so excited!
So, while I could theoretically make it back to CU in time for the Storytelling Festival Saturday night, I may just stay in St. Louis until Sunday. All those "lovely" moms just may be safe from me again this year. ;-0
