  1. It’s really a bit ironic about the blathering from someone at Inside Higher Ed about no one doing real criticism — bleh! You try to be a bit honest and skeptical for a while and look what happens to you?
Anyway, all this stuff sounds very intellectually exciting… good for you.

  2. Hee hee, Mark. I still disagree with you about Levinson (and of course I still don’t really have time to get into it now). But I definitely agree with something here.

“If someone sees an intelligent person
Who is skillfully able to point out shortcomings,
    And give suitable reproof,
Let him cherish such a revealer of hidden treasures.
Only good can come from such an association.”

-from one of my favorite works, (but not my favorite expression of it).

  3. Hi Christina, not exactly sure you are referring to with the “and look what happens to you?” comment, but I’ll take it in the lighthearted sense that I’m sure you meant it.

I’m not saying I intend to change my questioning, skeptical ways; only that I want to make it more palatable to a larger number of people. Because, honestly, I can be a bit coarse sometimes. Just trying to grow a bit is all.

Hi Karen, thanks for the wonderful quote! Not to expose my ignorance, but what is it from? And some day we may get a chance to sit down in the right frame of mind and discuss Levinson. One can only hope. :)

Hey Jenny. I’m hoping for plenty of cool people, too. Or at least a good handful or two. With our varied and eclectic sense(s) of cool people it may just happen. ;)
