Let’s hope steadily again…

Most of you aren’t even aware of it, I imagine, except for those few who got “hung up” on in an IM conversation but my cable internet (Insight) has been flaking in and out (with much out) for the past week. I didn’t call until Tuesday and they couldn’t come out until today.

My cable modem was supposedly going bad. I took the repair guy up on a decent price on a new one with the expressed idea that I’d be calling immediately this time if it goes flaky.

The old modem was extremely hot, which I can imagine might make it act up. Considering it has no good reason to be hot—doesn’t sit in the direct sunlight or such—perhaps it was going bad.

Well. Yay! More damn technology crapping out on me; again.

What is going to need replacing next?

We don’t even have the decision to buy our own cable modem- it comes rented from time warner, included in the steep $50/month charge.

Yeah, I pay almost that much ($44.95/mo.) but you can buy a modem from them or somewhere else. Their’s really does seem cheaper and they can’t give me the “but you’re not using our equipment” excuse.

I could get internet a tad cheaper from them if I also got cable TV, but “No thanks!” It’d be more $$ in the end AND I’d then have another distraction.

Does Comcast operate in Champaign? I’m not entirely pleased with their track record so far in the customer service area (misinformation regarding their current promotion here in the Lansdale area), but the Internet service has been good. No flakiness so far.

    Hey Jenn,

Hope your Italian trip was wonderful! I don’t think we do have Comcast here.

My service is generally good. It does get flaky on occasion (goes out) during major storms, but that is to be expected in tornado alley. Everything seems fine now with the new modem.

Italy was interesting. There is a vast difference between visiting a foreign country and living in one. I’m curious to see how Andy does when he gets home. I know I won’t be taking my favorite conveniences for granted anymore.

Yes, there is a difference between living in another country and visiting. I’d love to do a bit of both again one of these days, but I’d settle for the visiting for now.
