Bodily imposed time out

August 23rd, 2007 · 9 Comments

I want to apologize to everyone who has commented on my last two posts, and to several other people who I owe responses in various venues. I did not mean to start a wonderful conversation and then leave it, but I must for the moment.

While waiting on the bus to come home this afternoon I started feeling extremely poorly. I tried taking a nap when I got home but despite being immediately and immensely tired I pretty much failed at napping.

I have been hydrating myself and have now eaten dinner. Nothing is helping at the moment. I need to give myself a break it seems. So I am stepping away from these computers for the evening.

I am sorry! As the comments started pouring in this morning I was itching to get the day over (work and 1st class of the semester) so that I could address them.

I promise I will get to them as soon as I can.

For the record, I was aware of the potential hypocrisy of complaining about del.icio.us feeds in blogs compared to my weekly “Some things read” posts. In fact, probably hyper-aware as it kept me from writing that post for almost 2 weeks. I will attempt to address this issue when I return, but it goes back to my comments about the blog author’s purpose. There certainly will be others who will not see any difference between these actions. This is true.

i don’t think you’re a hypocrite. because if i did, that would be hypocritical of me. then i’d be a hypocrite. and i am no hypocrite sir, how dare you call me that!? :)

i realize you see a significant difference between discussion of what you read and someone just saying that HAVE read something. But it all depends on audience.

    feel better!

Hope you feel better soon! There’s nothing worse than starting a new semester with an end-of-summer cold, or the like.

Hey, don’t sweat it (no pun intended). Take care of yourself first. The rest will follow.

Best, and keep on blogging (when you get better).

Mark, as you know it often takes me *weeks* to respond to comments–and sometimes I never get around to it. Take care of yourself (rest, clear fluids, etc.) and get better.

I hope you feel better SOON. Take care of yourself, my friend.

Take care Mark. (And please feel free to delete my two extraneous comments on that post when you get around to it).

    Thanks all for the thoughts!

I’m not sure if this is a re-occurrence of the issue I’ve been having on and off now for about 2 years, or what? It came on extremely suddenly Thursday afternoon–which is odd–but now seems to be much like the other episodes.

I’ve been to the doctor a couple times and she did a fair amount of testing a while back but could find nothing. I really like my doctor but she is severely hampered in what she can do since it is student health services.

And my longest owned plant, which was a gift from a friend who moved away around 7 years ago, died. :(

I’m so sorry to hear you’re feeling ill. Take care of yourself and DO NOT worry about anything but your health. Nothing is good when you’re not feeling physically well.

As far as the del.icio.us feeds go, nothing tops the annoying-ness of people sending their Twitters to their blog. Ugh. If I cared that much, I’d be ON Twitter reading your posts! ;-)

Thanks Meredith! I worry about you , too.

Hoping you’ll get some answers about those headaches soon.

I have a doctor I like, but she’s seriously hamstrung by working at the student clinic. Just another screwed up way in which health care is rationed in our country. But that is a whole ‘nuther can of worms, as they say.
